I think while it can be annoying to see works using realism to make fantasy elements pop, people are intrigued by the contrast and seek more of that "bitter seasoning" in more grounded or foundational work. Works like GATE, Log Horizon, Ajin, ASOIAF TV, Witcher, Etc.

I'm actually surprised no one has done an Alexander anime yet, especially since his character in Fate/Zero is pretty beloved (admittedly, not much like the historic Alexander, but still).

I'd actually noticed that in the first episode of "Sentenced To Be a Hero" as well. They still have that nasty "everyone can slash through armor" issue, but it's nice to see actual cloth armor in realistic usage. The fancy knights have heavier armor, their support troops less.

For the record, I view tv shows type of media from Western and Japanese that are not documentaries as not caring for the history they choose to represent and it is books where you get the real ones that care and for shows you only get the odd one that is respectable
